Winter Whoopins
Jan. 21st, 2012 - Quad City Fighting Championships – EKIM’S Winter Whoopins!
Mike Smith hosted QCFC’s “Winter Whoopins!” at the Moline Community Center on Saturday. This show was mostly a debut-fighter event. The attendance was outstanding with an estimate of over 900 fans. From what we understood, they ran out of tickets at the door, and started giving people passes for admission. Two fighters combined sold 350 tickets…yeah. Awesome. There were a total of 22 fights that lasted from 7:00pm-1:00am. The security did their job on keeping everyone safe, the judges scored fair, Mike and the other refs had great judgment, and Dougie Jefford is probably the coolest announcer in the Quad Cities. Fighters Taurean "The Brick" Bogguess & Todd Monaghan received Their 1st degree black belt as well. This was the second biggest show I’ve been to, so Mike, you really out-did yourself, and congrats on the success. –Alaynna Roby

Caged Aggression 4
December 10th, 2011 – Extreme Cage Rentals - Caged Aggression IV: “The Big Show”
Mike Goodwin really out-did himself when he put on the fourth Caged Aggression event at the QCCA Expo Center in Rock Island, IL. As promised, the night had a Las Vegas MMA style to it. This was the first local ECR event. The whole night was phenomenal, as it included 12 fights (3 titles), a 24 ft. Throwdown Octagon cage, a ton of sponsors, professional event staff, a 20 ft. TV screen and 2 wide screen TVs on the wall, a fantastic light show, state-of-the-art sound system from TJ Productions, impressive video production and graphics from Mind Print Productions, and much, much more. Mike Smith (EKIM’S) was the special guest referee. The show kicked off with Pat Zefo from Music Makers playing our national anthem on the electric guitar. One thing this event did different from all the others is that, a fighter would be announced, his interview would pop up on the TVs, and then he’d do his walk out on the stage. When both fighters were announced, the tale of the tape would be shown on the TVs as well. In between the fights, the sponsors’ commercials were displayed, along with 2 looks into the locker room live showing who was warming up, and whose hands were getting wrapped. The fighters looked great, and the attendance was well over 1000. Our photographer, Greg, said “It just keeps getting better and better!” Awesome show, Mike! Hope to see more in the future! –Alaynna Roby

WarParty #24
WarParty Cage Fighting #24 – ‘Twas the fight before X-MAS
On December 3rd, 2011, Chad Bergmeier and Tyrone “Native Warrior” Roberts put on the 24th WarParty Cage Fighting event at the Midnight Ballrooom in Marshalltown, IA. Chad was the promoter of the event, and Tyrone was the matchmaker as well as the guest referee. Tyrone is most known for fighting on the UFC 26: Ultimate Field of Dreams card in 2000. The night consisted of 10 exciting and fast-paced fights, with none of them going into the 3rd round. It was awesome that the event had TUF 14 finale playing on the big screen, but sadly, they turned it off half way through and put on HBO boxing. Overall, the turnout was great, and the crowd was very supportive of every fight. They definitely got their money’s worth of entertainment. –Alaynna Roby

RT 84 Cage Fights
EKIM’S/Quad Cities Fighting Championships – November 23rd, 2011 Mike Smith put on the RT 84 Cage Fights III at Hawg Dawg’s Bar and Grill in Savanna, IL. There were 11 fights, 2 of which were girl fights, and 2 were for Hawg Dawg championship belts. The location was perfect and it was cool to see one of the original cages the area first had. Also, the fans that had shown up really got their money’s worth of excitement. Kudos, Mike! BY Alaynna Roby
Extreme Challenge 199

Convention Center in Bettendorf, IA. Chad did an awesome job being the match maker, and Greg had the

turn out and safety came first with the referees, doctors, and security.BY Alaynna Roby
